Biofuels Digest Awards OPXBIO with Product of the Year

Recognized for Achieving BioAcrylic Cost Reduction

Boulder, Colo. – January 6, 2011 – OPX Biotechnologies Inc. (OPXBIO), a renewable biochemical and biofuel company, has received the Renewable Chemical Product of the Year Award from Biofuels Digest.

The awards, first established in 2008, recognize excellence in the research, development and commercialization of biofuels, renewable chemicals and bio-based products. The Biofuels Digest editorial board determines the awards based on nominations submitted by the Digest’s readership.

OPXBIO was recognized for its work to reduce the production cost of bioacrylic produced from sugar fermentation by more than 85 percent in its pilot process.

"We were impressed not only with the technology of OPXBIO, but also with its relentless focus on commercialization, strong management team, and strategy. All of these are essential to producing a winning product and company, and OPXBIO has been heading in the right direction in every way,” said Jim Lane, editor and publisher of Biofuels Digest.

“Biofuels Digest is the industry’s most widely read publication and being recognized alongside companies like Solazyme, Amyris, Neste Oil, Ceres, Genencor and Bunge is quite an honor for us,” said Charles (Chas) Eggert, OPXBIO President and CEO.
